Open Class

Well it's that time of year again. The dreaded OPEN CLASS is days away.  Open Class is a parents' night at most hogwans in Korea.  We drop the books for a solid... three weeks or a month, basically, and instead, rehearse songs and dances, a play, games and poems.  It's... interesting, considering the kids are 7 years old (Korean age...) and I'm not a choreographer or a drama instructor.


My lovely coteacher has handled our presentation/play--which is on New Year's celebrations around the world--and most of the costumes, while I'm in charge of felt backdrops and the songs and dances.


I've been covered in a plethera of tiny felt bits and hot glue for weeks...and after repeatedly hearing (and screaming) the lyrics, I've lost my love for Stevie Wonder and Harry Belafonte.  


Despite all of that, it's going to be super cute.  Here are some photos of the kids in all their gear with our elaborate felt backgrounds.  Enjoy!
